2017. UH Manoa, BI404 Advanced Topics in Marine Biology: "Interactions among invasive Pacific red lionfish, fish parasites, and cleaning mutualisms native to Atlantic coral reefs."

2014. OSU, Z351 Marine Ecology: "Fishing out marine parasites? Impacts of fishing on species interactions in the ocean."

Instructor of Marine Ecology Laboratory
Oregon State University: Corvallis, Oregon, Spring 2014

Co-taught OSU’s Z352 (2 credits, 30 students) and developed laboratory- and field-based curriculum, led lectures and activities, designed and graded assignments.  Students learned to “do science” by (1) designing and conducting their own experiment that explored ecological patterns and processes in the rocky intertidal marine ecosystem, (2) analyzing data, and (3) communicating results as part of a small collaborative group.

Graduate Teaching Assistant
OSU: Corvallis, Oregon, 2011 - 2012

(1) Marine Ecology Laboratory (Z 352, 2 credits, 30 students). Spring 2012

(2) Principles of Biology 2 Laboratory (BI 212, 1 credit, 40 students). Winter 2012

(3) Principles of Biology Laboratory (BI 211, 1 credit, 40 students). Fall 2011

During the fall and winter quarters, I led one lab section, assisted in another lab section, designed quizzes, and graded assignments. During the spring, I led lab- and field-based courses based on the ecology of the rocky intertidal ecosystem.

Scientific Teaching & Curriculum Design Seminar Participant
OSU: Corvallis, Oregon, Spring 2013

Discussed the theory and practice of effective scientific teaching. Developed a three-week lab module that allows students to explore the ecological and policy-related implications of ocean acidification, specifically on sea urchin larval development.

Graduate Teaching Assistant Training Seminar Participant
OSU: Corvallis, Oregon, Fall 2011 - Winter 2012

Participated in two 10-hour seminars that focused on quality classroom management, evaluation of student work, and creating an engaging learning environment.
